AP state news reports

From sea to shining sea

AP remains the only news organization with reporters in every state, and at every statehouse–more than 650 reporters, photographers and editors in all. More than 70 are dedicated full time to covering state government and holding it accountable, with even more helping during legislative sessions.

With this reach, AP delivers a steady stream of photos, headlines and stories with impact from every corner of the country. Here are some of the stories and images that captured life in the U.S. in 2012.
