AP's iCircular and Print2Web team up to bring local ad inserts to newspapers growing mobile and tablet audiences
July 25, 2012
The Associated Press and Print2Web L.L.C. today announced the integration of Print2Web’s PDF-to-Web conversion service for ad production into the iCircular service and platform. Working together, Print2Web and AP’s iCircular business unit will allow newspapers to convert, manage and deliver local retailer print circulars to the mobile shopper.
Through this collaboration, customers of Print2Web’s services can convert locally sold preprints from PDF files to mobile-friendly formats, and then have the ads seamlessly inserted into the local newspaper’s weekly ads section of their mobile and tablet website and apps.
“With local ad dollars for mobile projected to reach $24 billion by 2016, we see this partnership as a critical next step for newspapers,” said Jeff Litvack, iCircular general manager and COO. “Combining the best of weekly sales from national retailers with that of local retailers will create the most compelling marketplace for newspapers and consumers alike, driving revenue and audience growth to digital versions of weekly ads.”
“Our first promise is to our clients, and working with iCircular we can quickly accelerate the revenue opportunity for local digital preprints to one of the fastest-growing platforms,” says Al Corey, Print2Web L.L.C. CEO. “I believe we are just at the beginning of a technological innovation that will fundamentally change how consumers shop and find out about the best deals from their favorite local retailers.”
Currently, iCircular is in a pilot phase with more than 40 publications and 20 nationwide retailers. For a full list of newspapers and retailers participating in the beta pilot of iCircular, visit http://info.icircular.com/press.html
