Veteran TV news producer Chris Hulme will join The Associated Press as global video enterprise editor, a newly created position.

Hulme, a former senior producer with the “CBS Evening News,” will identify and develop longer-term enterprise stories for U.S. and international video customers, and help lead the decision making among AP’s text, photo, audio and graphics staffers as to which developments will be the top story of the day for TV and on digital platforms.

“AP’s customers tell us they want news that is distinctive, which can lead newscasts and make headlines on digital properties. That means we need to break big news and we need to do it in video as well as in text and photos,” said Sandy MacIntyre, vice president and director of global video news. “Chris Hulme has a proven track record of doing just that on both sides of the Atlantic. Backed by great news judgment and high-end production values, he will help us showcase in video the very best of what AP does.”

Hulme worked 22 years for CBS News, starting in 1991. He served as foreign editor for seven years before becoming senior producer in 2006. Previously he worked as foreign editor and national editor for ITN, the independent UK news channel.

AP counts leading U.S. television networks and local stations, as well as major international broadcasters, among its global customers. In addition, AP Video Hub, its start-of-the-art online video delivery platform, is being licensed by a growing number of news organizations worldwide. Its U.S. video portal, called AP Video-US, delivers broadcast and online video together on a single platform.
