Sportswriter Charles Odum got access to a previously unseen video of Hank Aaron’s historic 715th home run. The video was shot by Atlanta fan Charlie Russo who managed access to the field with Aaron’s family and filmed the milestone with his 8 mm camera.

Odum, thinking beyond a simple text story, asked if the Russos would let AP share the footage with members and on our platforms, and they gladly agreed.

The resulting multimedia package was among the most viewed sports stories last week with over 40,000 views across APNews and the app. The video already has around 3.3k views on AP’s YouTube channel and over 83k on X.
