AP elevated its coverage of the Daytona 500 this year by adding video created by reporters Jenna Fryer, Dan Gelston, and Mark Long, making the package more digital-friendly than ever.

Fryer secured exclusive access to embed with the Hendrick Motorsports crew of driver Kyle Larson during the race—a first for AP. She provided real-time video updates and blog posts as the race unfolded. AP had never before been positioned so close to the action, and Larson’s participation was particularly notable as he plans to race in both the Indianapolis 500 and a 600-mile NASCAR event later this year.

AP also had exclusive video from Long and Gelston, including aerial footage from the Goodyear blimp and vibrant off-track scenes such as wheelbarrow racing in the campsite zone, capturing the full flavor of the multi-day party atmosphere surrounding the signature event.
