Independent, nonpartisan and fact-based digital journalism from The Associated Press reached record audiences last year.
APNews.com, the news cooperative’s consumer-facing website, set a record with over 2.6 billion page views in 2024. This was a 39% increase year on year. On YouTube, AP video journalism received a record 590 million views, up 94% over the previous year, while AP livestream views grew more than 430%.
“From the U.S. presidential election to the Paris Olympics, people all around the world turned to AP for accurate reporting about the year’s biggest stories, as well as for moments of joy and wonder,” said AP Executive Editor Julie Pace. “We continue to be focused on serving digital audiences as we expand the reach of AP’s journalism.”
Additional highlights from 2024 include:
- AP News in November recorded a record 382 million page views, including record-setting days both on and after the U.S. presidential election. AP’s U.S. elections live blog was our most-viewed piece of content in 2024.
- AP’s YouTube channel added nearly a million subscribers, a 78% increase versus 2023. Total AP YouTube subscribers are now nearly 3.5 million, while AP content on the platform received more than 15 million impressions and 240,000 likes.
- Overall watch time for AP video on YouTube grew 255% compared to the previous year, with over 22 million hours watched.
- Topics that resonated the most with viewers on AP News included the U.S. presidential election; the attempted assassination of President-elect Donald Trump; Hurricane Milton; Venezuela’s presidential election; and the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore.
